This is a picture one of my friends sent me after the signing at Barnes and Noble in Orem on Saturday. Notice that I’m next to the sceince toys! So perfect for Myra, my main character. This was my first hometown signing since the release of GDF , so I was excited to see people as well as sell some books. And thankfully, old friends did drop by to hang out and make fun of me. One of my friends I hadn’t seen in decades popped by from Bermuda! My wonderful friend Coleman Bonham made bird cookies. My mother recruited her friends. And new friends came too from nearby high schools and middle schools. And there were also young moms, aspiring writers, bored men, other authors, and little kids who wanted another cookie. Before I was published I heard horror stories about signing. But truthfully, I kind of like them. Even the ones that bomb. They’re interesting. I don’t always sell as many books as I did on Saturday, but I love meeting people even if all I do is trade recipies for sugar cookies. It’s not all about selling stories. Sometimes it’s about living one.
